Happy Spring!
After the final snows of winter are behind us and you can taste the breath of Spring in the air ahead, let's celebrate the Passover holiday and Easter days by venturing out to the Antique shows, estate sales and the predictable forthcoming tag venues.
The thrill of the chase is like finding the hidden "afikomen" or hunting for the pastel and pastille-filled Easter eggs while ultimately discovering that special something that makes you smile inside and out.
Enjoy what has yet to be uncovered...

Take a King sized Tut seat for 2013
Hi, all my fans!
Just received news of shows for 2013 from my favorite vendor, Marcia @ Cherished Treasures, and thought I would share them with you. You will need a big sheet of paper and a royal seat to write them all down!
Guilford Antiques Show- 2/16 and 2/17 in Guilford, CT
Morristown Armory Show- 2/23 and 2/24 in Morristown, NJ
Piers Show- 3/16 and 3/17 in NYC ***My personal favorite and always a FAB adventure!
Westport Antiques Show- 3/23 and 3/24 in Westport, CT
Danbury Vintage Show- 4/6 and 4/7 in Danbury, CT***If you like clothing, textiles and accessories, this is not to be missed!
Brimfield Antique Show-5/15 through 5/19 in Brimfield, Ma.***The mother of all shows for dealers!
Antiques in the Churchyard (outdoors)- 7/4 in South Salem, NY***I go to this every year without fail and always find a hidden treasure.
Westport Antiques (by the train station) on Sundays outside- 7/7, 7/21, 8/4,and 8/25 in Westport, CT.***This is a kind of flea market/grandma's attic of sorts and you never know what may turn up.
For now, this is enough of a teaser. I have more on my list and know that as the seasons change, some shows will be added.
If you are into vintage finds from Miriam Haskell, Judith Leiber, Hattie Carnegie, Nettie Rosenstein, and the like, in jewelry and accessories, you will be in heaven searching the booths for rare baubles.
If you are like me, always searching for the humorous, the unusual, and the story behind the find, then you will be in Nirvana as I always turn up with something- like the King Tut chair above, and the Jon Bok chair below. Enjoy!
Oh! I almost forgot to show you the Judith Leiber vintage Elephant minaudière that will be on your hunt through the shows when you look up Cherished Treasures and Marcia Chaloux on Facebook too.

I am starting a new monthly posting for art lovers
It has been a long road through 2012 but 2013 promises new beginnings!
Because of the economy, so much has been affected in my normal course of antiquing and hunting down unique finds for myself and my followers and clients.
I have amassed my own eclectic finds which I decided I will publish a posting, monthly with a picture and a story about them.
Most recently, I found Rita Hicks Davis via the Internet, an artist called "sophisticated naif" by her own terminology, who I started collecting way back in the 80's with buying a painting called "Spring Morning" on impulse from the Jay Johnson Folk Art Gallery on MadisonAvenue in NYC.

Isn't it wonderfully sunny with its painted frame and general demeanor? I sent her an email telling her about the fact that I have 3 more of her paintings and wanting to know the stories behind them as well. It turns out she lives in Indiana, now does rug hooking and was so pleased to know who her audience was. I look forward to her telling me stories about them so I can share them with you. Again here is another picture of her works I have on my entranceway walls in my home.
The paintings I have are called in clockwise fashion top right: "Meeting with Bill", "Blinddate", and "The Engagement". If you know her work from seeing or owning or admiring, write me here with a comment. I am looking to broaden all my art horizons.
Hope you enjoy this small info session. There will be many more to follow! Tah-tah.
